You're right. Engineers are a strange bunch. I was once engaged to an engineer many years ago. I got to know his buddies, too. As a result, I can usually tell after speaking to someone for about 5 minutes that (usually) he IS an engineer. Recently, I was even able to tell that a man had been studying engineering, but switched careers before actually becoming one. Engineers talk funny. They put words and sentences together in such a way that do not they flow with "normal", generic conversation patterns. I don't know about them being shysters. Most I've know have been at least somewhat insecure. Maybe that's why they go to such lengths to prove their intelligence. I guess, though, they're taught to question everything, prove everything. But, geez, turn it off when you're not at work. You are different from them. You must be. You realized engineers are different.

In some ways I think you're right. The Independence Day celebration has become an excuse to get drunk, commit a crime, and all around act stupid. Not only do adults act stupid, but they begin tutoring their children in the fine art, too. When asked, most people probably don't even know the significance of firing off those crackers and bright flashes of lights. I guess they are substitutes for the muskets of long ago. Well, I guess I'd rather have these mischievous merrymakers fire off fireworks rather than actual rifles. Especially considering the possibility for "operator error." I don't think anyone has the right to disrespect either your space or your sleep in the name of a national party, but I do believe in celebrating. It doesn't matter to me that I've seen all the colors and combinations of lights, whistles and booms before. I still like to see them again, just in case something new has been invented or to share it with a young person who hasn't lost his or her wonder yet. Sometimes just watching them on T.V. is enough. This year I didn't get to see any due to an unfortunate timing issue. So next year, they'll be all the better. And, I haven't seen or heard any today, the 5th of July.

Gday everyone, just become a member of t2s2.org . I have spent five days researching in the web, until I have discovered this community forum! I think, I will certainly stay here for a long time. kool forum.

Many thanks to the internet you can now be a remain at property dad and do a lot more with your day than modify diapers and mash bananas for very little ones. Or revisit your geometry lessons for the older ones.

You only said what most of us thought and wished the "powers that be" had the courage to act upon. Unfortunately, our government has become more of a "I'll scratch your back and you scratch mine" state than one that impartially represents the will of the people.
