Michael H. Schrader, P.E., BIOGRAPHY

Michael H. Schrader, P.E., has been a practicing Civil Engineer for more than two decades.  Schrader obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1987, and a Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1990.  During his professional career, Schrader has had the unique opportunity to work in many different facets of Civil Engineering.  Schrader has worked as a private engineering consultant, has worked both directly and indirectly for state, county, local, and regional governments, and has worked as a signing and striping contractor.  In addition, Schrader has worked in all facets of the project delivery process, from surveying to planning to design to construction inspection to the completion of "as-built" documents.  Schrader started his career as a structural engineer, studied traffic and transportation engineering for his Master's Degree, worked almost exclusively as a dam safety and drainage engineer as a private consultant, and later expanded into planning, databases and data management, and engineering law.  During his career, Schrader has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Transportation Research Board, and the Association of State Dam Safety Officials.  Schrader has given numerous presentations to his peers, and has had some of his work published in an international publication.  Schrader is currently a registered Professional Engineer in Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

In addition to his training as an engineer, Michael Schrader has also taken coursework in non-engineering subjects such as History and Law.  He has 18 graduate-level credit-hours in History, which has enabled him to obtained a better understanding of why things are the way they are.  This knowledge is important in making decisions, as it helps eliminate "re-inventing the wheel."  Michael has completed a year of law school at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas, successfully completing coursework in Torts, Contracts, Property, Legal Analysis, Criminal Law, and Civil Procedure.
