METROPLAN AND THE CITIES OF LITTLE ROCK AND NORTH LITTLE ROCK

Michael Schrader represented both the City of Little Rock and Metroplan, the metropolitan planning organization for Central Arkansas, during the River Project Transportation Study. This study focused on the transportation logistics, travel demand, and the parking demand of the new Alltel Arena, the River Market District, the expanded Little Rock Convention Center, and the William J. Clinton Presidential Library fronting both sides of the Arkansas River. The River Project Transportation Study encompassed not only traffic operations and traffic flow, but also pedestrian logistics, water transportation, bicycle facilities, and transit needs to facilitate access to and from the new developments.

Tasks performed

·         Made public presentation to stakeholders

·         Designed parking facilities and estimated costs

·         Calculated parking demand

·         Comprehensively analyzed the existing infrastructure and recommended changes

·         Provided oversight to various consultants

·         Coordinated meetings among various governmental agencies, including the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock and the Central Arkansas Transit Authority
